Introduction

Welcome to the Aldridge Family Research website. This website has two primary purposes: 1) to promote research into the ancestry of William Ezekiel Aldridge, born 1729, and 2) to promote understanding of our common family heritage among the descendants of the same William Ezekiel Aldridge. We invite our many Aldridge and Alldredge relatives to join us in this very pleasant endeavor.

The Ancestry of William Ezekiel Aldridge, born 1729

The ancestry of William Ezekiel Aldridge ("William 1729") of North Carolina has not been clearly established. For many years it was believed that he was a grandson of Clement Aldridge of Northumberland County, Virginia through Clement's son, William Aldridge, born 1704 . In recent years it has been shown that William 1704 died in South Carolina without children. In 2004, a DNA test of Tony Alldredge, a verified descendant of William 1729, showed no relationship with other descendants of Clement.

Some have suggested that William 1729 is a descendant of Nicholas Aldridge of Anne Arundel County, Maryland, either through his son William, born 1702 or through his son James, born 1706. However, neither connection has yet been clearly verified.

Any pertinent research information is very welcome. Please provide the source of your information. The GEDCOM available on this website includes, in the notes, the latest research information available to the compiler, Tony Alldredge.

The Descendants of William Ezekiel Aldridge, born 1729

Several family members have sent their abbreviated family lines to us (see
Family Trees) and we invite others to do the same (please use the same format previously used). Our hope is that this simple representation of our common family heritage will assist other researchers in clarifying their lines and will also strengthen our feeling of common heritage. Feel free to contact family members for further information regarding their/your family lines. The GEDCOM available on this website generally includes descendant information only for those born before 1850.

Family histories are welcome, especially those of older common family members (see
Documents, Picture, Links), and we will try to include them there. Information regarding other useful websites is also welcome.

Carol Fawson, Tony Alldredge's daughter, is our website director. Proposed additions can be sent either to her or to Tony. We also encourage you to contact us with any questions regarding this website or the family. It is really an enjoyable experience getting to know all of you and your families.
